The Westconnex Stage 1A project team engaged the services of the Ultegra design team to assist in the delivery of the $500M road project with the relocation of Endeavour Energy and Ausgrid high voltage and low voltage distribution assets at various locations along the 7.5km road project between Church Street Paramatta and Homebush Bay Drive, Homebush. The scope of the relocation works was located at six locations along the road widening project and were instrumental in relocating assets to enable the construction of the road viaduct and expansion of associated on and off ramps onto the motorway. The works were completed ahead of time and on budget through careful planning and risk management processes.
The point of difference of the Ultegra team which assisted in the delivery of these works, is the internal construction experience within the design team and the adoption of constructability reviews of the designs produced. After the successful completion of the scope of works, Ultegra’s engagement was expanded to include the design tolling point power supplies as well as an additional urgent Endeavour Energy asset relocation design project which was completed in less than a week from engagement.
The scope of works was a challenging project to deliver due to the tight physical constraints of the sites and the requirement to achieve compliance to current network standards. The works were successfully delivered through open dialogue with Ausgrid and Endeavour Energy which is demonstration of what can be achieved by collaborative work practices with the road delivery team, the electricity authorities and Ultegra.
